Mission

Nordpix is a curated visual media licensing platform built for the Nordic region and hosted entirely in Europe. We exist to give Nordic photographers a fair deal and buyers a trustworthy, GDPR-native alternative to American stock platforms.

What is Nordic photography?

Nordic photography is the visual tradition of the five Nordic countries — Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. It is shaped by long winters, low northern light, dramatic coastlines, vast wilderness and the architectural restraint of Scandinavian design. The result is a distinct aesthetic: cold colour palettes, expansive negative space, and a quiet, naturalistic mood.

The Nordpix library covers the full range of subjects within Nordic and Scandinavian photography:

  • Fjord and coastal landscapes — Nærøyfjord, Geirangerfjord, the Lofoten Islands, Vesterålen, the Faroe-facing Atlantic coast and the Norwegian Sea.
  • Northern Lights and aurora photography — aurora borealis captured over Tromsø, Senja, Svalbard, Finnish Lapland and Iceland.
  • Arctic and mountain photography — Svalbard wildlife, Jotunheimen, Sarek National Park, Dovrefjell and the Kebnekaise range.
  • Forests, lakes and rural landscapes — Finnish lake district, the Swedish boreal forest, Danish beech woods and Norwegian highlands.
  • Scandinavian cities and architecture — Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Reykjavík, including Nordic minimalist interiors and contemporary buildings.
  • Aerial and drone footage — 4K drone stills and video clips across all five Nordic countries.

Every photo and clip on Nordpix is shot by a verified photographer based in the Nordic region, then hand-curated for technical quality and licensing clarity. Buyers can license individual images under Editorial, Commercial or Print & Wall Art tiers — directly from the photographer, with a fair royalty split.

Why we exist

The major stock photo platforms — Getty Images, Shutterstock, Adobe Stock — pay photographers between 15% and 45% of each sale, run on US infrastructure, and apply US privacy law by default.

Nordic photographers deserve better. Nordpix pays 60% royalty on every sale, stores all data on Hetzner servers in Germany, and is GDPR-compliant from day one — not as an afterthought.

We also curate. Every photographer is reviewed before their work goes live. This isn't a platform of tens of millions of mediocre images — it's a library of quality photography from five countries.

You keep 60% of every license sold. No exclusivity required. No lock-in. Upload once, earn indefinitely. Payments are processed in EUR via Mollie, with automatic invoicing.
